Urban Tau Cadre

My White Dwarf showcased urban tau units all together in their own album. This was fun project, working with only the few parts available to me in Tau kits, but eventually developing some unique models using parts from all over the place. Predominantly Space Marines, including an old MK1 Rhino hatch part!

I recently discovered that GW Australia had been kind enough to send me the PDF format version of this article, you can download it here [2.5mb]

    Hi Nistrum,

Feel free, really enjoy seeing folks interpret this scheme in their own way. I did indeed paint the cammo and go slightly crazy in the process :D

I love those drones. Can’t wait to try to build some to replace my old marker drones.

If you do, send in some pics – be great to check another variation out :)

Wow, I really wanna do a XV8 in these colors, they are amazing and the purple glow the lenses make really look wicked.
Free handing the whole camo? How long did that take?

The paint looks really smooth, did you thin it a lot, how many coats did it take?

  • Seb (author) said:

Thanks Z133, absolutely gits to paint. Took awhile to paint, but the difficulty is the grey matching across more than one suit. It tended to change hue as the paint dried; only learnt that after the second attempt. Argh!? hahah.

Application wise I am watering it down 1/3 as in drop of paint/water. A couple of smooth coats can go on easy and fast.

Hey Seb, I was wondering what parts you used for the majority of the bits on the Crisis suit? They look amazing, adding a whole new perspective to the Tau army.
