Convergence?
Well this is strange.
About two years ago I was working on an alien design for an aquatic race that I wished to have sculpted. Fast forward to yesterday – I came across this piece of artwork.
My original design sketches:
Uncanny how multiple ideas can converge even via another’s imagination when turned to the same idea.
Certainly great to see the above result, and yes, I’m still thinking about this race as models.

Not actually that similar, TBH. Your head is more frog-like, theirs looks like a piranha. Four vs. six limbs. Thick vs. thin waist and legs. The main similarity is the extended lobe at the back of the head. Both are nice designs; you could always make yours more explicitly “swimmy” with big fins or something if you wanted to diverge a bit more
Thanks for your perspective, as you mention those differences; amazing how invested in a style one can miss details that tell them apart. I”ll head down a more ‘swimmy’ route most certainly, as I want a clearly aquatic appeal. 🙂
