Remixing a Classic for Squats
|I’ve been browsing a lot of the 3D design community files for alternate models to use in Warhammer 40k.
In a few cases, also for parts to complete classic kits. Which had me happen upon this model kit:
Well, that is clever. In many respects its like the precursor to the wheeled vehicles the Votan have today. Akin to the first Rhino and the modern kit we now have.
So impressed was I, that I commissioned a printing:
Forgetting to ask for doubles in certain files, hello headlights, – I have spares so this is a small problem. Note the exhausts have upward pipes (see layout image). Overall, a tight, close to original parts, model. As you can see I’ve already fitted classic parts.
A bit of cleaning up to do, and some extra details – I’m pretty happy. Sizes up well with a classic Rhino, yet takes that STC down a different route, as the more pragmatic Squats would have done so.
More from my Retro Collection soon.
That looks great, I look forward to seeing it painted! Also, awesome to see how much you’ve posted of late. You’re stuff is always inspiring! I haven’t bought the Old World (we never really stopped playing the old WFB, though lately we’ve been doing more homemade rules), but I’d be curious to hear your thoughts once you’ve given it a spin. How does it compare to the older versions (if you played them, that is)?
Thanks man! Me too haha. Decent amount of clean up ahead.
Old World wise, watched a few games and liked the straightforward nature of it. Havent seen an actual Goblin army run through it – always Night Goblins, so.. my mileage might vary! 😀
