The Longsnout Orcs
|Finally a sculptor who gets the style I like! I havent had much time to do anything of late as I am in the throws of publishing a 320page history book – BUT, I do have time for Carlos Pérez.
He’s a 3D miniatures sculptor “..and a sucker for orcs, trolls, goblins and any other ugly creatures.” – his words.
For the last 4 years I’ve been working for Big Child Creatives and CMON on lots of projects, such as A Song of Ice and Fire Tactics, Zombicide, Marvel United, DCased, Mordred, or my favourite, Paul Bonner’s The Dead Keep.
Paul Bonner you say?
So he has a Kickstarter active right now (click here).
A few examples:
Way more on the kickstarter page.
Expect to see some of these on Eastern Empire soon!

These guys really do look great. I don’t have a 3D printer but once some Etsy people or 3D print businesses have them I’ll be checking them out.
I share your feeling of “finally someone made the orc I want!” Looking just at GW orcs (or more accurately, trying to remember the various phases of GW orcs), the classic 80’s and ealry 90’s ones were lots of fun, a bit goofy, and sometimes a bit spindly. Then the Brian Nelson revolution happened and they got bigger, more muscular, and square jawed. This was a big step up in the “threatening” department, but they also became a bit “same-y” across multiple kits over the years. Then came AoS and we got super-orcs in mega armor and the swamp orcs which are a bit like Tolkien orcs on steroids. None of these orcs are bad, and all can be made to be fun and characterful, but these longsnout orcs… well they may have hit the sweet spot right between threatening and funny and characterful. All good stuff. I hope you get some and have a chance to paint and share them!
Indeed! Actually if you read the main comments threads, you’ll see more than a few suppliers available in various countries, who have bought the commercial license.
Totally agree on your break down of Orcs in recent times. Longsnouts hit the mark for me personally.
I’ll be adding what I find to a later post when I paint my first test model 🙂
