Warhammer 40k, Blood Angels classic continue
|Update on the Classic Rogue Trader 1.5 period Blood Angels, I’ve continued my simple highlights and added decals. However I went to town on the Rhino.
A lot of the scratches and “Damage” are actual dents and cuts in the model I recovered from a junk eBay lot. Working in all this abuse on the model has made for some convincing battle damage.
Also if you look closely, I had a bad day adding the tear drop decal on several marines – my microsol stripped the paint or reactivated it with in a couple of drops. Very frustrating; can see why I began freehanding my logos over past years.

Looking great, Seb!
I always gloss varnish the areas where I decal to avoid paint stripping by microsol. Loving the old school. I’ve got a project to do much the same with only RT and early 2nd edition era stuff that was still in the RT style and scale, with an iconic RT era chapter but stumped on what chapter to choose.
Oh. Don’t forget to drill those bolster barrels!
Thanks man – and yes, been so long since I’ve used decals, that issue caught me off guard. Iconic chapters? Gosh.. Crimson Fists is the obvious one, uhmm.. Mentor Legion? The original black armoured Dark Angels perhaps?
Haha – yup already done (Bolters) 😉
That banner pole gave me nightmares after I saw it. Sad times, sad times.
Haha – thats next on the painting list for the details, have a classic paper banner all lined up for it 🙂
Retro all the way 😀
Inspirational! If I hadn’t so many projects to juggle around already, I’d be digging out my RTB01 Mantis Warriors to paint….
Oh man, if I could finish half the projects I have hahah 😀
hey, just found this article looking for a way to paint my retro Blood Angels, love it!
Whats your red scheme? Vallejo Flat red and then wash the recesses?
Thanks,
Rich
Hi Rich, thank you! I’ll have to check my recipe book – will email you the details 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!
