Warhammer 40k Rogue Trader Space Marines

Warhammer 40k Rogue Trader Space Marine Combat force

Recently I began working on a Warhammer 40k Rogue Trader / Second Edition combat force using classic Space Marine metal models. It has turned into a great little project and here are several of the results. First started off with this kitbashed model:

Ultramarine First Company Veteran Brother Sergeant. 80% complete with touch ups and a campaign marking to go. I’ll be painting Co. markings on the right arms (as per Campaign guidelines in WD129, 1990) but Veterans get white shoulder trim regardless.

I’ve always liked the attached artwork and intend to emulate this force for my new 2nd Ed. Space Marine force. Note yellow lenses in this period.

The scouts (4) get a start this new year with skin tones and even a Sergeant to join them.

I’ve gone with classic white bolters, as per most art from the period 1988-91, which isn’t in the artwork I’m following – but the black arms with black bolters in said art piece, lacks contrast. Putting together the next squad now and painting in sub assemblies due to rediscovering just how small these guys are.

Yup, looking a good little force so far. Next up, three more marines. A heavy and likely a character. Oh and decals (shudder)

The Space Marine Lieutenant

Sometimes, you realise you’ve just put a round in a Xeno and moved on, rather than slam that alien beastie down, rind it the Emperor is the Boss and then unleash cleansing holy fire upon it. Or rather, given yourself a stern word to put in some effort you phone-it-in muppet as you’ll see, my initial effort was lack lustre:

More soon!

– Sebastian.
