Warhammer 40k, Squat decisions
|With regard the retro project and Squats, I’ve mostly been gathering parts and models. Missed some opportunities due to monthly hobby budget. Which leaves me to consider colours.
Now I have a fondness for my original Stronghold colours, all vibrant and youthful, but a couple decades in, the tones get muted to something more believable. I’m going a darker blue and more mustard yellow, with a darker brown hide for the leathers. So here for your edification, the current colour scheme I’m settling on:
Liking this, what are your thoughts?

Looks great to me. The classic 2nd ed. primaries will always have a nostalgic place, but I vastly prefer the muted semi-realistic hues of Rogue Trader. This scheme looks like a lovely update, and leaves space for some eye-catching accents to pull out characters, banners and so forth.
Thank you 🙂 Cheers man – I do agree, the bright 2nd edition period was fun – but Rogue Trader has that real visceral theme which came from the era of art in the books. I definitely look forward to breaking up the scheme across the collection to add variety. Presently chasing Dwarf banners from Warhammer to craft some Stronghold banners using some of the decorations as themed icons on the modern banners.
