Warhammer Goblin Raiders
|I’ve made no small mention of my enjoyment of Brian Froud’s Goblin aesthetic (dear god, here we go again..) and my constant attempts to merge it with Warhammer.
Amidst my sudden desire to build a diverse Goblin army to oppose my young knight through many adventures to come; using regimented Goblins is about as entertaining as a one trick snotling.
So I need bickering, ramshackle raiders who can double, nay triple, as Dungeon denizens, raiding ravagers and adventure party ambushers.
Secondly, being on the borders of Bretonnia and the Empire – their gear, being salvage, should reflect that.
First are two brawlers/skulkers, with a crazed savage goblin. I used Gutter Runner legs atop upper torso Bretonnian men at arms bodies (Finally, a use for my most hated plastics). The rest was whatver seemed good at hand.
Being raiders, they had to have satchels, gear and loot bags.
The next set are further unaligned gits. A scrappa, stikka and a bruiser.
Just realised now the leftmost gobbo needs some loot! Might just have him earn some in future. The Stikka has trapping gear – clearly the one tasked into grabbing woodland creatures for chow time, or unwary travellers.
Couple more scrappas and a second Stikka, though this version is clearly more alert and has scavanged a longbow from an unfortunate Bretonnian bowman.
As you can see, the basher on the end collects heads. Those he doesn’t pulverise first.
Now a surprise addition, an upcoming shaman. Or the Weird Git among his mob. Both a bit unhinged, the savage and the shaman get along quite well, bicker less than most.
I’ll be waiting on more parts to complete the group, mostly for RNG tables and as a opportunistic force should the goblins ever mass up for a big scrap.
The future models will be even more adventurous. 🙂
Always been inspired with your work with orcs and goblins. It’s nice seeing this now as I actually set to working on my attempt on Brian Froud style goblins, as it reminds me spend more time combining things to build character into models.
Thanks! The next batch are going to be even more homage. Scoot me images of yours when you can! 🙂
Great use of the serpent Goblin, and other GW parts,
Thanks Commissar 🙂
Love these guys. I used a few gnoblers, heroquest goblins, and others to make some goblins for a D&d campaign, but never finished them… I should get back to those sometime.
Thanks Lasgunpacker 🙂 Man you should! would be good to see other folks kitbashing common goblins 🙂 Though the Eldar/Tau project is so hot right now 😉
I know this post was a while ago but great work on the gobbos, your conversions are inspired! It is nice to see someone else having fun with these diminutive dudes I can’t figure out how to post pics or I would show some of my own conversions but I’ll email them to you in the mean time. Also, if you like Froud’s work (and what goblin lover doesn’t?), here are some alternate manufacturers to check out who have clearly been influenced by his style:
