Warhammer Quest, the Global Adventure party
|A few days ago Huib brought up a very good point, with the collapse of Warseer.com (a giant of the Warhammer forums) and the end of WHQuest.com (A visually stunning forum on our favourite game) – there is no true place for sharing the adventures. We are on the precipice of being split up again across various forums and Facebook pages. When really, just updating our own blogs is easier.
My thinking at this point is to create a sub-page on Eastern-Empire, that will list everyone’s blogs that post about Warhammer Quest – not just dedicated; but you occaisionally model for your own collection.
In the face of digital version, a card version and a new rather interesting reinvention; the essence of the original is at a point of being diminished.
So I’m creating a blog badge you can add if you want as a link button to the page; which I will edit and support to ensure it becomes a gateway (Dungeon door?) to everyone else’s sites. The hope is this index will reconnect our community that was just burgeoning with WHQuest.com.
Here are two samples of the badge, playing on the idea of Lantern bearing. Every modeller is carrying the flame forward, so this badge is an icon representing this idea. A larger banner will be on the sub-page, playing on a simplified version of the Warhammer Quest logo.
Optional logo to have for sure, either way – I just want to reconnect our global adventure party.
I’d like to hear your thoughts, do you want to bear the flame forward as part of a network, with all the bloggers and website owners who enjoy creating for this game?
– Sebastian
Yes! Yes I do! 😀 Sign me up.
A great idea, Sebastian, and much appreciated. While we now lack the direct discussion and sense of community of a forum, we Old World Questers will be able to keep tabs on each others projects.
Maybe you could reach out to the owner of Beyond the Grey Mountains as well, maybe he still has the contact info from forum members so we can reach as much of us as possible.
I’ll get in touch with him – great idea 🙂 Forums are great, but it is yet another thing to have to post too – if we network the community we can then bookmark each other. Any new folks can use the index to quickly connect with all of us.
Count me in!

Brilliant; so it begins! 🙂
I’ve been away from the hobby for a little while, and didn’t realise that we’d lost these communities. I run the Imperial Vault, and am happy to provide a place to bring this stuff together – whether it’s a forum, a place to host project logs, links to blogs, downloads or whatever.
What can we do to make sure the community can find each other and share?
That has serious potential; you have a lot of content already archived. Do you have much of the Grey Mountains content from WHQuest.com? I’d be happy to supply graphics where needed.
We need to hit Social Media a bit; but only when we have the core built. In many respects we could potential have Imperial Vault as the hub, wherein bloggers can link to and non-website owners can at least pulish images to in the Flickr account or Forums.
A bit like Tom’s Boring Mordheim Forum; plenty of bloggers, plenty of hobbyists happy to post photos somewhere. Thanks for the offer.
As well as hosting a list of the blogs in our community, I wonder if a ‘news’ service would be useful, where links to new posts from the various blogs can be added as headlines – a central place to check in and see what’s been happening
News service is a great idea; I was thinking of doing this on the sub-page here on E-E.com browsing RSS feeds from bloggers; but certainly could set up a section that RSS feeds updates through Imperial Vault.
I like the idea of a central feed, as a “one stop shop”. If the Imperial Vault already has a forum running, non-bloggers and any discussions/conversations among us could find a home there? Sebastian raises a good point about social media, especially seeing how more active and exposed to public certain facebook groups are compared to corresponding forums. I would personally prefer a forum, due to the transient nature of things like facebook. There is a certain joy and value to being able to go back and read/see things from months or years in the past. Some things are timeless and should stay retrievable. But I agree, build the “home” first, then spread the news.
This is essentially why I shy from Facebook and social media platforms, you can’t really craft a post like you can on a Forum or a blog. They’re good for grabbing your attention – small wonder marketers are prevalent on this platforms.
I’ve put a shot across Sam’s bow at WHQuest.com; be a shame to wast reviving the forum there. Failing that – we get serious about Imperial Vault 🙂
Count me in Seb, I have really missed BtGM, but this could work as an alternative
Thanks for your support Rusty – I’ve been doing some orgnising in the background – news soon.
I am living under a rock when it comes to interact / communicate with other WHQ enthusiasts these days. This looks like a fine opportunity to change this. Count me in aswell – I would be glad to become a member of the global adventure party!
Thank you Sir! Shall have more on this soon 🙂
Happy to use the Vault for this, although no forum there yet. I’ve been looking into how to set up a forum or community, and I’m in the process of creating a test site so we can play with it and settle on what we need.
Once we know what it needs to do, I’ll merge it with the Vault and we can get serious about letting the community know.
Sorry for the slow reply – holidays happened and I didn’t get sen’t a notification that my comments were accepted or that there was a reply.
I’ll send a link out in the next week or so and we’ll take it from there. In the mean time, we should still compile a list of RSS feeds & sites to monitor for news. Would you include wider dungeon-crawler news, like 3D scenery and appropriate new minis from other companies?
There’s a fellow Questor whom set up a site when Warseer went down the first time – I’ll email him; we could amalgamate the two and not reinvent the wheel 🙂
Questing Knight, I’d say that anything that enhances the Questing experience should be welcome! Maybe as a sort of supplemental category, to prevent the WHQ focus from getting watered down?
Hi Seb, this sounds like a great idea, I would be very interested. I know I don’t comment often, but I recognise a lot of names from BTGM and I miss following all the projects everyone is working on and reading the comments and discussions everyone has.
I’ll follow this with interest, and I know this is off-topic, but your forest goblins look great, keep up the good work!
Thanks! And yes, I do miss the various projects everyone was working on. I’m passing emails with folks to get the global adventurers all back in touch 🙂 Cheers on the Goblins! 😀
Ah great to see this is getting of the ground. The one thing I loved from warseer was putting out ideas and suggestions online and have all my favorite painters comment and give tips and feedback on how they kit bashed or obtained certain models and comment on stuff I put on there even tho I was mostly lurker and only rarely put stuff out. Is great to be a small part of a whq community with soo many great ones. Hope this gets off the ground . Great idea Sebastian your probably one of the people most suited to be at the center of this.
Count me in! Love the logo! I’m still in denial about Warseer being down.
Me too! Thanks man, I’m still working on contacting a couple of folks in the background to try and get the foundation set first 🙂
